French Oppose Censure Of Balkan States |

By R. H. SHACKFORD United Press Staff Corvespondent LAKE SUCCESS, N. Y,, Sept ~Greek Foreign Minister Constan-

tine Tsaldaris today denounced Soviet criticism of the Truman doctrine,

! He warned the United Nations general assembly today , that the United States’ $300 million antiCommunist ald program will fail unless “increased” attacks on Greece by Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and . Albania are stopped. He answered Sqviet Delegate Andrei A. Gromyko's bitter attack on the Greek government for allegedly trying to promote a war between east and west. Mr. Tsaldaris told the political and security committee that since this assembly started the northern neighbors of Greece have increased their aid to guerrillas who are fighting the Greek government. Urges ‘Softer’ Resolution French Delegate: Yvon Delbos flatly rejected the U. S. proposal to find Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania guilty of aggression egainst Greece. He said the evi-| dence did not support such a charge. He said France would not be.able to say that the governments of Greece's northern neighbors had given assistance to the Greek guerrillas; that all it could say was that Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania " ‘had done nothing to police its borders to prevent crossing of them by the guerrillas. Mr. Delbos appealed to the U. 8. to soften its Greek resolution by eliminating the section which would brand the Balkan nations as aggressors, | Peasant Leaders Gfter Plan | Exiled oppostion ‘Teaders of four Balkan countries. were trying to get on the assembly's agenda their suggestion that the assembly end Soviet control over eastern European and Balkan.countries by “taking over” the 'govegnments under an international commission to balk |
