Seon... Facllities for 20,000 New Telephones . . « Since the three-year program started early this year, we have been putting in telephones as rapidly as equipment to serve them could be added. New Equipment en the Way . .. Giving every customer service, when and as he wants it, means that new central office equipment must be added to every exchange i in the city. . . about $6,900,000 worth of this intricate apparatus is scheduled for installation during 1947, 1948, and 1949.

Wire and Cable Gelng im. , . Thousands of miles of wire, overhead and underground, mast of it in cable, must be added to the city’s expanding network. This project, now going forward, calls for an expenditure of some $10,000,000 during the three-year period.
