Only 2300 Hear Tome Touro In Sonsational Concert at Bow!
By HENRY BUTLER Some 2300 persons heard last night's concert of Fabien BSevitzky's summer symphony, with Jennie Tourel as soloist, at Butler Bowl That number was about 5000 too few.

Miss Tourel has one of those sensational. Last night she worked under will undoubtedly be corrected next summer. But her voice, her way of doing arias and songs -— those are things you can’t criticize. The special oomph in Miss Tou‘rel's singing of the “Habanera” or

An audience like last night's knows Jennie Tourel sings beauti-|: fully. But no audience, however sophisticated, can ever give full appreciation to what went into that beautiful singing. Besides the “Carmen” excerpts, Miss Tourel sang the “My Heart” aria from “Samson and Delilah,”
and Tchaikovsky and, of all things, “My Hero,” repeated in one of Dr. Bevitzky’'s group - singing encores. Another encore, with audience .par-

It needs further hearing, and it needs better playing than this year's summer orchestra could give it,
