WASHINGTON, June 27.—FBI agents are in the coal fields, trying to establish a connection “between this week's widespread coal strikes

United Mine Workers.

That was learned today from reports of coal operators who have been questioned by FBI men. | It was said evidence was bei sought to show that more th 200,000 men in a dozen states didn’t’ walk out spontaneously in a protest against enactment of ‘the Taft, Hartley labor law. The FBI activity hooks up with a statement by President Truman— that Attorney General Clark is looking into the mine situation. Evidence that the strikes had direction or even formal approval from head offices of the union could be used to return John L. Lewis to court on charges of violating the Goldsborough injunction against stopping production while the coal mines are in government possession.
