NEW YORK, June 24 (U, P).— The active participation of women | | in public life, especially politics; was]: the theme today of speakers at the 56th annual convention of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The corsVention opened last night with a banquet at the Hotel Commodore at which a message from Governor Thomas E. Dewey was read, urging women to participate more in political life. Mrs. LaFell Dickinson, Keene, N. H., retiring president of the federation, declared today in her report to the convention that women could start a national “renaissance.” “I believe that our organization now in its 57th year, with a threeYear record of 48,480 new members in the United States and 26,845 in foreign clubs, making a grand total of 75,325, is In a position to start & renaissance,” she said,
