To Buy Equipment Mayor Robert H. Tyndall yesterday proclaimed Saturday as Junior Baseball tag day. He urged citizens of Indianapolis to support its program to combat juvenile delinquency. : : Junior ‘Baseball tag day will be marked by the organization's financing program. More than 300 youthful uniformed athletes will be stationed on downtown streets, tagSing pedestrians, with paper baseballs.

Junior Baseball's budget calls for the purchase of 840 baseballs, 240 bats, 10 sets of catcher’s parapher~ nalia along with other equipment and payment of umpires. Approximately 150 teams are expected to take the fleld this summer. Leagues will be divided into various age groups at each of the city parks. The program is for all boys up to 18 years of age. Players who take part in the Tag Day program will be guests of the management of the Indianapolis Indians baseball club for a game at Victory Field.

Previously the state's star witness, Dewitt Morris, 37, of 319 W. Vermont st. testified that he participated in the all-night party during which, he said, Jones administered “six or seven” injections of mor-

Morris also testified that a few weeks before the trial Jones tried tc “pressure me into changing my testimony.” The jury, seven women and five men, which was kept at a downigh hotel under guard last night, s expected to start deliberating on the verdict late this afternoon. If convicted, Jones who has a record of 80 arrests in the last few years, will face a sentence of two to 21 years imprisonment. Jones has never served a prison term on any of his other offenses.

Msgr. Sheen Closes Forum Here Sunday

For the fourth consecutive season, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Fulton J. Sheen will close the 1946-47 Bernadetie Forum at 3:30 p. m. Bundy in the Murat theater. Originaily scheduled to appear early in May, Msgr. Sheen's extensive lecture tour made ‘it necessary to postpone his appearance until Sunday. His subject will be “The Crisis of Our Age.” :

Compton Urges

WASHINGTON, June 11 (U. P.. ~Dr. Karl T. Compton today urged universal military training because the United States would have to “move fast" if another war cones. Dr. Compton agreed with Rep. W, Sterling Cole (R. N. Y.; that this country should initiate efforts to get an international agreement to abolislr military training and achieve feogld disarmament. But he felt it would be “unsafe” for the United States to wait for such negotiations. Dr. Compton proposed that the U, M. T. program be adopted for a definite period of perhaps 10 years. He said it would cost about onetenth the money spent by Amer Jcans on luxuries such as cosmetics ‘and liquor. ; Dr. Compton, chairman of President Truman's special commission on universal training, testified before the house armed services committee as it opened hearings on the controversial subject.
