$100-a-Plate Dinner To Aid Blast Victims
NEW ORLEANS, April 28 (U. P.. ~New Orleans’ $100-a-plate dinner Wednesday night for Texas City, Hex., disaster relief was pronounced a sell-out today by Mayor Delesseps Morrison.
The dinner, which is expected to raise $40,000 for the Texas City relief fund, features entertainment by many of the nation’s top radio and film stars. Jack Benny, Frank Sinatra, Alice Faye, Phil Harris and his orchestra, “Rochester” Anderson, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Mary Livingstone, Connie Boswell, Jane Powell, Marjorie Reynolds

By ART WRIGHT Preliminary playoffs in the annual Times Marbles Tournament will be held Saturday, May 10 at 9 a, m. on 28 playgrounds and school yards, The method of qualifying players in the preliminaries has been changed from last year's setup. Playoffs will not be held at individual schools, Participants will play at the playground where their school is assigned in the schedule compiled by Mrs, Norma Koster, supervisor of special activities for the city park and recreation division. The department again is co-operating with The Times in staging the event. Entry Blank Required Another innovation is the requirement for players to send entry forms to The Times. While there Is no deadline for entries, participants are urged to clip the coupon from The Times today and mail or bring it in. Any boy or girl 14 years and under may compete.
