Churches to Aid National Shring

Collections taken in the Indianapolis archdiocese on Mother's day, May 11, will go toward a national goal of $5 million to complete the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, The shrine has stood uncompleted for 25 years on the campus of the Catholic University of America, Washington. Cardinal Gibbons laid the corner stone of the basement of the shrine which was constructed at a cost of $2 million. The Most Rev, John PF. Noll, bishop of Ft. Wayne and editor of Our Sunday Visitor, is chairman of a committee of bishops in charge of the funds drive. The finished shrine is proposed a8 a victory memorial for the United States, World war II began on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and ended on the Feast of the Assumption. 13

Ken Murray Recovers

From Pneumonia Peril HOLLYWOOD, April 25 (U. P). —Comedian Ken Murray, star of the vaudeville show “Blackouts,” was recovering today from effects of a 103 gegree temperature caused by what his physician, Dr. Victor Kovner, called “impending pneumonia.” Dr. Kovner said Mr, Murray has been ordered to remain in bed for the next few days but that his fllness is not critical.
