To Leave for Work in China

The Rev. Ray Cloyd Downs has

resigned as pastor of the two-year-

old Northminster Presbyterian church to go to the China mission fleld.

He and Mrs. Downs would enjoy

staying here. They are clear about

Dr. J. E Sharp has used DIS! that. They feel that Northminster holds all the ingredients of happileisure time for the past three ,... for them. Nobody is urging the Downs to give up their home here

months to build a model of the new Westview Baptist church. The tiny church, 24 by 36 inches

and complete to the last detail, will be unveiled in ceremonies tomorrow at 2:30 p. m. at Westview church. Dr. Cletis R. Brown, pastor of the First Baptist church, Kokomo, will give the address. Dr. Sharp is a physician with offices on the south side. He's in his 70's now but has made a hobby of model building since boyhood. He remembers with pride a miniature of Solomon's temple which he constructed when he was 15. d Serves as Workshop

The second floor room of his garage on Buckingham dr. serves ‘as a workshop’ He has accumulated every kind of tool for tinkering and very small ones for the models. The miniature Westview is made of beaver board covered with plaster to simulate the grey limestone veneer of the prospective church, The design is Florentine. Little art glass windows adorn the walls of the model which is surrounded by a grassy lawn, shrubbery and sidewalks. Toy automobiles for midget worshipers are parked in the street. And the building is illuminated with electric lights. Zoning Board Approval The _model is to be displayed at the meetings of the Indiana Baptist convention and other assemblies. It is expected that it will be sold at auction to swell the Westview building fund. All the plans and blueprints of . the church have been approved by the zoning board. When completed the church will seat 400 in the worship room and include 16 Sunday school classrooms. The Rev. W. H. Hawes is pastor.

Besides, ground soon will be broken for a new Northminster church at E. Kessler blvd. and Ralston dr. This will mean the materializing of a dream cherished during months of worship in temporary quarters jn the Masonic temple in Millersville. The plight of China, however, long has aroused the interest and sympathy of the Downs. They feel that 100 ministers will be available for the Northminster pit asi against one who will aw to! China. Worked in Detroit

Looking toward it, he worked for Qu
