Dear Mrs. Robinson: In regard to the linoleum on your kitchen floor, you can either varnish it or paint it. Use either a good quality floor paint or a good floor varnish. The type of finish used on floors is especially made to withstand the hard use it gets and other kinds of paints and varnishes won't hold up. for very long.

Remove all the dirt off the linoleum before painting or varnishing. A cloth with a little benzine will be fine for this cleaning job but be sure that there is no open flame such as a pilot light on a gas stove that might possibly ignite the benzine. Keep all the kitchen windows open to provide a free circulation of air. A good coat of wax over the finish will preserve it considerably. Don't use large quantities of water on finoleum as it: will get under the material and cause it to pull away from the floor.

Dear Mr. McClain: The moisture that collects on a the inside of the walls in your home is caused by condensation. Air contains a certain amount of water vapor — the amount depending on the temperature of the air. When the warm air comes in contact with the cold wall some of this avater vapor remains on the wall in the form of moisture. There are two ways to prevent excessive moisture in the home. One way would be to warm up the inside of the wall so that its temperature would be near that of the

the inner and outer wall.
