Children of Roberts Park Taught That God Is Love
By EMMA RIVERS MILNER Times Chureh Editor
“Jesus has gone away but He will come back. Do not forget Him.” This expresses your idea of Easter if you are.a very small boy or girl attending the nursery department of the Roberts Park Methodist
sums up the matter for you whatKenneth Carr would tell Ln
of us ever forget Him.
Church school has demonstrated that children age 5 and 6 can grasp the meaning ~ of sacrifice always stressed at Easter. Boys and girls
as & lesson in sacrifice. Bring Mite Boxes One boy of St. Mark's struggled in each day with the milk bottles the milkman left on the porch. Others put away the wraps of guests who called, or held the dust pan for mother when she swept the kitchen. They ate every morsel of food and drank every drop of milk in the cup without prodding at meals and they hung up their pa-jamas-each morning. Tomorrow morning they will put their mite boxes on thé miniature altar in their classroom, The teacher will explain that their “hardearned” pennies will go overseas to relieve the suffering of children in war stricken countries. Thus the boys and girls of St. Mark's will share in Lutheran World Action. Children and young people .will bring their mite boxes and Easter flowers to the communion rail tomorrow at the 4 p. m. vespers in the Episcopal Church. of the Advent. Miss Anne Thornburg will accept the flowers and afiix them to a rough-hewn cross in the sanctuary. The Rev. Thomas R. Thrasher, rector, will talk on the “Meaning of Easter.” He will describe some of the missionary work in the United States and abroad for which the contents of the mite boxes will bé used. The congregation will sing the triumphant Easter hymn: “The Strife Is O’er, the Battle Done, Hallelujah!”
