Capehart Seeks 63-Cent Wage Law
Times Washingion Burean WASHINGTON, April 4.—Senator Homer E. Capehart (R. Ind.) has introduced a bill to raise the minimum wage from the present 40 cents per. hour to 65 cents. \ He obtained senate approval of such a flat increase in the 79th congress, but the bill died in the house. The measure will be assigned to the senate labor committee of which Senator William E. Jenner (R. Ind.) is a member. An identical bill was introduced in the house some time ago by Rep. Gerald W. Landis (R. Ind.), ranking majority member of the house labor committee. Senator Capehart also introduced a bil] giving benefits—comparable to those who served in the SpanishAmerican war—to veterans of other wars and their families.
