But all Cubs want Nicholson to recover his hitting eye and are not opposing Grimm's experiment. . . . In 1843 and 1944, Nicholson led the National league in homers and runs batted in. . .. In 1943 he belted 20 homers and batted in 128 Tuns. . . . In 1944 Nick collected 33 homers and batted in 122 runs. . . . But in 1945, the player's homer production fell off to 13 and his runs-batted in total to 88. . . . Last year, Nick remained in the slump and was used in only 105 games, batted in only 44 runs and his hitting average sagged to .220. ... He is 32 and in the best of health. . ~
