Pressing the Caps, Hornets and Barons, of course, are the tenacious Buffalo Bisons at 69 points. In other words, only four points separate the first four clubs in the western division, and only "three teams fromh each division qualify for the post-season playoffs. All indications point to the same torrid race right down to the March 16 finish in regular season competition. + Three-Game Trip After slaughtering the St. Louis Flyers here last night, 10 to 1, before 9396 cash patrons, the Caps will be idle until Wednesday when they open a_three-game road trip in Providence. A Question 1S being asked
Patrons of Indianapolis Railways are asking...
“Is the deficit referred to on the Car Cards
based on the 68 or 8’: cents fare?”
Heres the answer.
While patrons have been paying 8's cents, the deficit incurred by your transit company in 1946, is based on the 6": cents fare.
Here’s why: In granting the temporary injunction .which permitted the Company to collect 8% cents, the court directed that the difference between 6% and 8% cents be “impounded,” placed in escrow, so to speak. Hence your Company could enter on its records, as usable income, only the sum involving the 6% cents fare. The courts have yet to decide if the Company is entitled to the higher rate. If the decision is favorable to the Company, the impounded money will be placed at its disposal and the deficit will be overcome. If, however, the impounded funds are returned to the
'Company’s patrons, who are now accumulating coupons,
the Company will have finally to absorb the deficit
referred to. Further, it
will be forced to operate at 4 sub-
stantial loss during 1947 and until relief is accorded it: Despite this condition, and a doubtful financial future; your Transit Company proposes to continue its efforts
to improve its service.
