Tigers Realigned for Return Meeting
GREENCASTLE, Ind, Feb. 20— DePauw university’s basketball Tigers, realigned and bent on revenge, will play the Butler Bulldogs tonight at Bowman gym in the final home game of the season for DePauw, Not only would a DePauw victory avenge an earlier 65-61 setback to Coach Tony Hinkle's Bulldogs, but it would tumble Butler from its top perch in the Indiana conference and at the same time give the Tigers a chance at the crown, Butler nqw leads the state league with six straight victories, while DePauw has a mark of seven vic tories and one loss with games remaining against Wabash and Earl. ham. DePauw has a season record

George Mikan .... Bob Mollermott W Dick Triptow ..... The ‘Chicago Gears, onc fi: Bob McDermott and winners in eight of their last nine league games, will test the comeback efforts of the Indiahapolis Kautskys in- a National basketball - léague game tonight ‘at the Butler fleldhouse, The" tipoff will be at 8:30
p. m, The division « leading Kautskys again will be guided by two team members, Bob Plets and Herm Schaefer, Working under the same dual controls, the Kautskys scorell a 50-46 victory over.Syracuse Tuesday night. Although Indianapolis has beaten Chicago twice .this season, the triumphs were posted while George Mikan, the Gears’ long boy, was out of the lineup because of palary| differentes, Since his return to competition, the DePaul university all - American has averaged 179 points a game, highest in the league,
of 12 victories and two defeats, with
+ the other loss charged to Marshall. |
Two Lineup Changes
Since that earlier defeat by But- | Syracuse contest.
ler, Cbach Hickman has made two] revisions in his starting DePauw lineup and expects these—plus the home-floor advantage—~to stymie the Bulldogs. y : Tom Back, a freshman forward, is holder of a starting position by virtue of his stellar play in the last
five games in which he started. An-|x
other freshman, John Mote of Indianapolis, has taken over one of the guard spots and will team with veteran Bill Walton "in harrassing the Bulldog longshot artists. Earl (Red) Gardner will handle the pivot |g position, and Wally Etcheson will team with Beck at the other forward post. Coach Hickman probably will pit Walton against Ralph (Buckshot) O'Brien ©f Butler, hoping he will hold him ‘again as he did in the first game with the Bulldog five. Charles Mdas undoubtedly will get | the unidivided attention of the Tiger) defense, since he was the big thorn in thé defensive game of the Tigers at the fleldhouse. * Athletic Director Ray (Gaumy)
The Indianapolis starting com|bination will remain unchanged’ {from the quintet that started the Leo Klier and {Schaefer will be at forwards; Risen at center, and Bill Closs and Ernie Andres at guards.

}
In addition, the Badgers boasted] three men in the first 15 in the! individual scoring race, a feat matched only by Minnesota and | ‘Purdue. Minnesota, while its cen- | (ter, Jim McIntyre, led the scoring race, was seventh in free throw shooting, Mcintyre gained first place in the individual scoring race with a spurt in the last six games, averaging 22.7 points per contest. - This total was 168 for 10 matches and an average of 16.8. | Murray Wier, Iowa's quickstepping forward, was second with 145 counters in the same number of
|games, but his average was only| §
14.5, good for fourth place. Hamilton Has 134 Bob Cook of Wisconsin was third in both total scoring with 137 and in averages with 15.25, but McIntyre’s most pressing rival probably was Ralph Hamilton, the Indiana shotmaker. Hamilton's total of 134 was fourth in the race, but he attained the mark over eight games for an average of 16.75, only .05 under that of the leader.
