CHICAGO, Feh. 10 P) — uncertain basketball
Big Nine, carries the hopes of the league tonight against the leading
‘I'wisconsin Badgers, for whom a victory will virtually seal at least
a share of the conference crown. Purdue's “tough-at-home” five hits the road for a contest ‘with the
five at Columbus, but the outcome probably will have little to do with the title. The Boilermakers - already have lost’ three games and are likely to lose at least one more, while Ohio already is out of the race with five defeats. Wisconsin téghtened its grip on the lead Saturday by outscoring Minnesota by 18 points in the last half to take a 60-51 victory, its sixth triumph in seven games. The runner-up Michigan and Indiana fives each have four victories in six contests and trail Wisconsin by one and one-half games. Hoosiers Pressing If the Badgers can knock down the Wolverine challenge tonight, their most pressing foe would" be Indiana. But the Hoosiers, ‘who have won only one of three games on the road. have three contests remaining on foreign floors -and could drop at least one of them. Thus, by winning tonight,
Wisconsin would make it extremely difficult for any other team to gain a tie for the title. :
