States are observing Youth Week. Mrs. Ralph Johns, director of religious education and youth work in the Irvington church, may tell you a young peoples’ group 1s studying the “Life of David” on Sunday afternoons. Immediately you visualize boys and girls seated on hard, straight chairs holding Bibles in their laps. A solemn adult is expounding scriptural truth. This is an erroneous picture. The young people are making puppets, molding them of clay, putting all their thought and talent into making the faces lifelike. Afterward they paint the puppets and make Research Necessary To be successful they must do considerable research in Biblical history in the time of David. They also must write the script about the boy who was a tender of the flocks, a poet and a king. Miss Ruth Fee conducts the class in puppetry, drama and art. Afterward the young people have supper together. Most of them aré high school age, a few younger. Another youth activity, the Tuxis society, hold discussions of “burn-

The mothers, two each Sunday, take turns preparing the meal. No set fee is charged, but a freewill offering is taken. The church confers the honor of serving as youth pastor on one of its young people each year. Donald Givan, 17, a Howe high school pupil, is the 1947 pastor.

Church Youth Groups

Donald will preside at the Youth week banquet for about 200 tomorrow night and head the Westminster Fellowship council for the year. The council includes representatives of all the youth groups of the church. The Rev. John Williams, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Greensburg, will give the banquet address.
