Led by Center Bockie Hamilton, who scored two goals, Pittsburgh had finished. its scoring last night before Norm Mann . made Cleveland's first goal midway in the second period. Les Carse got—two quick goals for Cleveland midway in the final period but Hornet Goalie Aldege Bastien stopped all of the Barons’ attempts to gain a tie. Seven Without Defeat The Hornets now have gone seven games without a defeat and had won five straight when Buffalo held them to a scoreless tie last Sunday. Last night's victory boosted Pittsburgh into a” second place deadlock
with Buffalo and dropped idle Ine
dianapolis to fourth in the Western division race. In the only other game, the Springfield Indians, paced by Paul Courteau’s three-goal splurge, crushed the Philadelphia Rockets, 9 tol. Bulldogs Massacre League Foe, 79-26
By BOB STRANAHAN Butler's Bulldogs today had a new season's scoring record for the field house as well as their fourth straight Mid-American conference victory. Wayne university's inept Tartars were soundly thumped last night, 7 to 26, and the smartest people on the Butler campus were the cheer leaders. They didn’t even show up for the massacre, But the Bulldogs didn't need any of that hoop-hoop-hurray stuff once they got rolling. Wayne's Kleenex defense allowed the Blueboys to, blow through at will after the opening miputes of play. Coach Tony Hinkle used 12 men in the contest and 11 of them

broke into-the scoring columns. The 79 points topped by two the previous high for the season rolled up against Western Reserve.
Brown's free toss gave the Tartars a 3-0 lead in the opening minutes
"have overwhelmed them, for Butler wasn't long in taking charge. Herod Toon got & foul shot and a field goal to square it and Jerry Cranny put the Blue ahéad for keeps with another two-pointer.
Played in Quarters Cranny, Buckshot O’Brien and Toon gave Butler a 16-6 lead at the end of the first 10 minutes of play. Hinkle sent in the reserves in the second period (the game was played in four 10-minute sections to please Wayne) and they rolled on to a 34-15 edge. Bill Shepherd, the former Hope high school flash, led this second period spurt with three field goals. The Butler. first -stringers came back at the start of the third canto and O'Brien dunked nine of the
out. The whole Wayne team got just the same number as little, Buckshot. Reserves" Go Good Butler reservists finished the than the starters. They poured 30 points through the hoop with Gene O’Neal getting 10 of these on five field goals. Emil Hison's field goal provided Wayne the only points of the period. Our demon statistician came up with the report that Butler fired 84 times during the game and got 33 field goals for a percentage of .392. Wayne's average was .104 on eight baskets in 77 attempts.
