Three of last night's mitt offerings were between rugged punchers in the open class for experienced amateurs. A light heavy battle (175 pounds) between Bill Roberts, South Side Community center, and Alonzo Easley, Flanner House, highlighted the fistic fireworks. Roberts won by a knockout in“1:11 of the third round but only after a torrid, toe to toe and head to head punchfest that kept the 2361 customers in .an uproar from the opening bell. Tech Loses Ground

Tech lost more ground in the North Central conference here as league-leading Jeff of Lafayette took home a 40-t0-32 victory. The Big Green led at the end of the first period, 10-5, and then fell back as the Broncos surged ahead for their 13th triumph of the season.

Franklin Township, county champions, racked up No. 12 against Sacred Heart, 57 to 46, as Dwight Swails, Franklin forward, accounted for 25 points. His teammate, Wendell Roberts, slipped in eight goals and two free throws.

Decatur Central surprised Washington on the latter's floor, 38 to 29, | to score its fourth victory of the season against nine defeats. Decatur outscored the Continentals, 21 to 5, in the second period to pile up a lead it never lost.

Pat Fitzgerald threw in eight field goals for the Irish last night as Cathedral ground out an easy 53-36 victory against Beech Grove. The teams were even at halftime, 16all. Then Johnny Pearson scored 12 points and Fitzgerald hit for 6 in the final quarter as the Irish pulled away, It was Cathedral's eighth win against four defeats.
