folk, you can come out of hiding. “The Hucksters,” dynamite as a book, will be just a 10-cent:fire-cracker in the movies, No bite, no sting, no scandak Just a lukewarm expose. Okay?“ Why, even Mr, Clark Gable is walking. right through Hollywood's radio row without a bodyguard, And nobody knows he's starring in the film version of the book, which turned radio network life inside out and goaded its sponsors. Just Poke Fun “All we're gonna do is poke some good, clean fun,” Gable explained
Radio and ad agency people, known in the trade as hucksters, didn't think the book was exactly healthy. The author, Fredric Wakeman, never came right out and told what real life people he was writing about, but the hucksters weren't fooled,
and a few sensitive souls still cross the street when they see Mr. W. coming. They can relax now. There's No Beefs So far, “The Hucksters" movie crew has heard nary a beef nor a| worfied query from anybody in| radio. “But in case any of ‘em are anxious,” Clark said, “tell 'em that we tossed out the heavy satire.” .
