Home Boys Come From Behind To a ‘Beat Reds Before Crowd of 9231 By EDDIE ASH, Times Sports Editor

Indianapolis hockey fans are going to love the Caps like they've never been loved before—if the Hoosier puck chasers just keep rolling slong. : Climaxing a three-game winning streak by outlasting the Providence Rhode Island Reds out at the Coliseum last night and winning, 4 to 2, before a happy. throng of 9231, the Caps eased into a tie with

Cleveland for the lead in American league's western division. The Hoosiers set up the trail to the top by knocking off the Barons in a big upset, 7 to 4, at Cleveland

That put the Caps only two points behind Cleveland. And with the lead at stake Sunday, the fast coming Buffalo Bisons took good care of the Barons while the Hoosiers subdued the Reds,

But last night's victory here w not achieved without a frenzie struggle. The Reds were out in front, 2 to 1, when the third period opened and it was in that session when the Hoosiers really hit the net and blinked the red light three times while *the Providence pastimers were held at bay. The hustling Hoosiers will now

Springfield Indians here Thursday. But on Saturday, the Caps will have to invade Hershey. ‘The Candytown boys are out in front in the league's Eastern division. The Providence Reds will make a return

The Caps broke the scoring fice here last night before the fans had settled In their seats when Gerry Couture slammed pne into the cage on an assist by Enio Sclisizzi, It| required just 36 seconds. A quick |

K rush on goal evidently caught Mike | Bush

Karakas slightly wiready.

8 The Reds deadlocked the count at $

1 and 1 at 6:11 when Tom Burlington, aided by Liscombe and Chad, put one over on Red Almas. Four penalties were called in the period. Only tally in the second session went to Providence at 11:23 when a high shot by Roger Bedard swooped by Almas. Assists on the play were

credited to Laplante and Scherza. But like in the first period, the Caps bombarded the Providence goal but always missed narrow margins. After the Caps canie out for the third period they had that determination sticking out and ‘they

hustled like nobody’s business. They|

had possession of the puck duting] most of the action and capitalized on this advantage in a big way and sewed things up to make it decisive, The Caps launched their current winning streak when they ‘drubbed St, Louis here last Thursday. Last night's triumph could prove costly, however. Al Dewsbury, rough and ready defenseman, suffered a possible fracture of the left hand during the torrid late game action. After that hard fracas at Cleveland Saturday, the Caps were leg weary last night until Coach! Tommy Ivan perked 'em up during] the second intermission, Providence (2) Indianapolis (1)
