3 Experts Have Perfect Picking Luck
By BOB
' The Picking Contest— ARREN CENTRAL'S Warriors kept the old Kunnel from having a perfect record in his abbreviated picking contest last week when they tripped Shortridge in the Washington invitational tourney. Other- | wise, our “expert” was definitely on the beam with seven winners. That Warrior victory didn't bother three other picking fans, however, and they called the turn to beat the old boy and come up with
perfect blanks.
The Kunnel doffs his sad sombrero to these astute fellows: RICHARD HON, 18, 1840 Post rd., Indianapolis DICK GUTHRIE, 820 N. Audubon rd., Indianapolis. W. M. BUIS, 3639 Birchwood ave., Indianapolis.
” " ~ Mr. Hon, of course, had a little more than | Warren Central-Shortridge outcome since Dick Hon is a member of the | successful Warrior quintet. ; Eight of the contestants were equally as proficient as the Kunnel in calling seven of eight selections correctly, But they'll have to beat | him to get their names in the paper. Twenty-one entrants had six of the eight correct, but the old boy gave the rest of the pack a pretty good picking lesson. The WarrenShortridge game, Liberty’s triumph over Rushville and Terre Haute of Brazil were the most frequent bobbles on the card.

Freak Goal Saves Game for Locals in Sunday Clash as Philly Rockets Threaten
By EDDIE ASH, Times Sports Editor Victorious in two rugged games over the week-end, the Indianapolis Caps today were back in undisputed possession of second place in the American Hockey league's western division and all set to take on the Buffalo Bisons. here tomorrow night. y The Bisons, the league's defending champion, got off to a slow start this season but have picked up in class and speed recently. As a result |Z they are in the thick of the fight for the runnerup spot to western di-
first goal. 18 minutes of the first period without a score, Licari got loose on a pass from CUff Simpson in mid-ice, got into the clear unmolested and sailed straight for the cage and rammed the puck home at 18:05.

Tony Licari chalked up the game's After the teams sparred
The Caps held a 3-to-0 lead at one time in the second period. Simpson tallied at 3:39 on a pass from Thain Simon. It was a “gang rush” by the Caps and a piece of smooth workmanship. The Caps’ second goal in the second session also was registered on smooth execution down the ice and Bruce Burdett fired the puck by Damore on assists from Gerry Couture and Les Douglas.
