Converted House Rents Boosted

OTC Lifts Ceilings To Encourage Building

WASHINGTON, Dec. 27 (U. P). -The government, anxious to see unused housing space converted Into apartments for veterans, is authorizing landlords to charge higher rents for newly converted units. Rent experts of the new office of temporary controls revealed today they have boosted the margin by which rents on new conversions can exceed ceilings in the community generally. It was learned at the same time that the federal housing administratios hopes to take administration of rent ceilings on future conversions out of OTC’s hands entirely.
