Tapestry, Rug

Efroymson Articles To Art Institute

A silk Persian rug and a French tapestry wall hanging from the estate of the late Gustave A. Efroymson have been added to the Herron Art museum collection, The new accessions were announced following the December directors’ meeting of the Indianapolis. Art association. Latest purchases announced include three rare prints: “Dancing Girl,” by James A, McNeill Whistler; “Virgin Crowned by Two Angels,” by Albrecht Duerer, and “John Asselin,” by Rembrandt Van Rijn. Also purchased was an oil portrait of William Henry Harrison, ninth president of the United States and governor of the Indiana territory, by the celebrated artistscientist, Samuel F. B. Morse. Plans have been made for the opening next Sunday of an exhibit of abstract and non-objective paintings, a group of more than 50 works by important painters of those schools lent by private collectors, the Guggenheim foundation and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
