John Scott, 69, of 2458 Winthrop ave, was killed instantly last night as he walked along the Monon railroad tracks south of Fall Creek bridge. He was struck by a Chi-cago-bound passenger train. Traffic accidents during the night resulted in injury to five persons, two of whom were still in critical condition, Most Fatal Hour

State Police Buperintendent Col. Austin Killian reported 236 persons lost their lives so far this year in pedestrian accidents. He sald 64 per cent of that number were killed between the hours of 3 p. m. and midnight. Most accidents of this type are the direct result of lowered visibility in the early hours of the evening, Col. Killian said. The most fatal hour is the twilight period between 5 and 6 p. m. Henry J. Martin, 35, of 328 N. Davidson st., was injured seriously last night when the car he was driving smashed into the side of a trailer truck and wedgéd beneath the heavy vehicle. Martin, who was pinned for sometime under the steering wheel of his car, Was in critical’ condition in City hospital. Passenger Injured The accident occurred at White River parkway and West Washington st. as the truck, driven by S. L. Sanders of St. Louis, Mo. emerged from the parkway to turn west on Washington. A passenger dn the car, Harold L. Parker, 32, of 758 N. Tremont st., also was injured critically and was taken to City hospital.

Jay M. Sewell, 27, and his wife, Bonnie, 19, of Childress, Tex., were injured slightly when their car crashed into the rear of another in the 9900 block on East Washington st. early this morning. Capehart Aid Gets New Post

Times Washington Bureau WASHINGTON, Dec. 24. — Ray Donaldson, Washington, Ind. has been promoted from his position as executive secretary to the new post of administrative assistant to Senator Homer E. Capehart (R. Ind). Announcement of the promotion of Mr. Donaldson was made by the senator following the release in Indiana of the appointment of Charles L. Egenroad to his office staff, Mr. Donaldson gets the top post at $10,000 a year, Senator Capehart said. Mr. Egenroad is a South Bend newspaperman. He will come here Jan, 15. Mr, Donaldson has been with the senator since he retired from the army with the rank of captain in world war II. He is a DePauw and Harvard law school graduate and former prosecuting attorney at Washington.
