Ex-Gl Tries to Crash In Rear Door, Finally Enters Burning House Through Window
A 23-year-old sarmy veteran was a real-life hero today to a small boy, rescued from a blazing East side home. - : Hailed as he drove his automobile along Washington st, Wentford “woster, 323 Beauty ave., rushed to the boy's home at 51 S. James had awakened to find smoke filtering through a bedroom that he and his brother shared. He became frightened and ran out the rear door, inadvertently locking it.
The veteran tried first to crash the rear door, but was unsuccessful. He then entered through a window, grabbed blankets from a bed and wrapped them around the younger boy and himself. He mad his way out of the structure, by this time entirely in flames, and was seated in his car with the boys when firemen arrived. Parents of the boys_had gone to & nearby drug store for a few ingles, they told police. Firemen e fire started fro - hegted stove, ou an over There were no injuries, other than
