# ‘By BERNARD BRENNER United Press Staff Correspondent ATLANTA, Ga., Dec. 12.—Startling “yevelations at an undercover fashion show here indicate that 1947 may see a great American gesture pass into limbo. : The future of the “girdle hitch” gentlemen, is dark. There was barely enough in the 1947 line of girdles I saw to take hold of, let alone provide a hand-hold for a twisted
typist. © Furthermore, pink will be passe fn the panty-girdle department when the smart girl stocks up next year, The willlam Carter Co. which fan its line out for inspection at a gales meeting here, is leaving pink girdles to the old-fashioned girl and out numbers in white, blue and a gleaming shade they call fce-blue. : % Well-Dressed Bride _ The ice-blue job has an intriguing addition. A parasol is em‘proidered on the front. Wrapped ‘around a smiling brunette, the Jasaesi kept some 300 guests spell bound until blond model Mickey Sturgis slithered out in Carter's idea ‘of what the well-dressed bride will
wear: A white satin girdle with builtin bra, the girdle equipped with transparent side panels. The ‘ensemble was completed with a long bridal veil and bouquet. Strictly Business . Quests at the show, most of them ‘salesmen, looked on with a detached, technician's viewpoint. It was business, strictly business, even when red-haired, beautiful Jane Bmith glided out in a slip with a black lace top, bare-midriffed, that Jooked like a cough 30 feet off could blow it away. % They gazed with professional interest only at a strapless nightgown with an elastic waist. The narrow ‘pink bra was held up by elastic and ‘snatomy. The skirt was gray. How do they get those jobs, anyway?

call. The mark of a gracious hostess is foresight in planning for guests —and preparing exciting dishes with a minimum of hard work and time spent in the kitchen. For a rather special party or for Christmas dinner a canape wreath tray will cause a stir of comment,

2 bunches watercress 2 1% oz. pkgs. cream cheese 2 tbsps. milk Salt and pepper 36 rounds crackers 9 square crackers Whole cranberries Wash watercress; drain. Reserve few sprigs for garnish. Chop remaining cress. Soften cream cheese and stir in milk, salt, pepper and half of chopped watercress. First spread mixture in “halfmoons” on round crackers. Arrange in a ring on a plate, turn= ing spread half of crackers toward center. Arrange square crackers in ring outside. Complete the wreath by placing two rows of cheese-spread round crackers in over-lapping circular pattern in second layer on: the square crackers and plain halves of the round ones. Garnish with watercress and whole cranberries to simulate Chrismas wreath. Fill center with plain round crackers.
» tJ ” Another hint for delicious canapes is to chop cooked turkey or chicken giblets very fine. Mix with mayonnaise or salad dressing and season with salt, pepper and a little grated onion. Pile lightly on crackers.

Beauties’ Hints— Rouge Masks Tired Skin
By ALICIA HART * NEA Staff Writer FOR THE SKIN that looks tired or blanched by fatigue at the end of the day, there's a pickup which you can dare to tise for wear under night lights. That's a blended cream rouge, applied to face and neck. The trick can be put across with the materials at hand, if you'll take a dab of the make-up cream that you regularly use and mix well with a dab of cream rouge on the blue-red side. Blue-red is better able to resist the color-draining of electric lights than orange-red. » » » THE SELF-BLENDED mixture must be applied sparingly. The best ‘way to apply it for fool-the-eye effects is to dot it on like freckles, and blend uniformly with your finger tips. If cheeks can take a highlighting, dip into your pot of undiluted rouge for that. der, and see if you recognize the blanched or tired face that first haunted your mirror.
