CINCINNATI, Dec. 12. — Better shoes for soldiers is the purpose of a $200,000 research program here at the University of Cincinnati, and at seven other institutions, sponsored by the army quartermaster general. Foot comfort is one objective of the research, but longer wear and greater water resistance are others.
Also included in the program is the |p=
development of strategic and critical materials for the produetion of leather, such as tanning materials. The center of the research is the Tanners’ Council Laboratory at the university under the direction of Dr.
