WASHINGTON, Dec. 8 (U. P.).— Draft-eligible youths today were assured at least one extra month out of khaki uniforms because the army despite a sharp drop in enlistments. The war department announced yesterday that the draft holiday declared in October has been ex1047. It said December enlistments will determine whether the draft will be resumed in February and March. The selective service act expires next March 31 and congress is expected to be cool ta the idea of extending it. The army has 1300,000 men in active status, more than enough to meet its commitments at home and overseas. It must cut down to 1,070,000 by July 1, 1947, to meet congressional mandates. Because of expiring enlistments and other separations, the army requires approximately 40,000 new men per month to meet its needs.

Approximately 90000 persons have enrolled in the Indiana Doctors’ Plan for surgical and obstetical care, Blue Cross Hospital Servive officials announced today. Officially launched Sept. 1, enrollment has been at the rate of 1000 a day, Guy W. Spring, state Blue Cross director, said, a record for the plan.
