Services for Mrs. Lorena Spillman of 1621 Churchman aye, will -be at 2 p. m. Friday in the Robert W. Stirling funeral home with burial in Crown Hill, Mrs. Spillman died yesterday morning at her home following a long illness. She was 70. Born at Dupont, Ind, Mrs. Spillman had lived in Indianapolis nearly all her life and was a member of Meta council, Degree of Pocahontas. Her husband, Clarence Spillman, died 20 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Helen Spillman and Mrs, Ruth Pickering; a sister, Mrs, Martha Ware, Beech Grove; a brother, George E. Irish, Southport, and three grandchildren.

FORMER SLAVE DIES, AGE PLACED AT 107
One of the nation's last surviving pre-Civil war slaves was dead here today. Warren Little, who was somewhere around 107 years old, dled Saturday at his hdme at 2907 Ralston ave., after 10 days’ illness. The former slave, freed at the end of the war between the statef} adopted Indianapolis as his home after he gained his freedom. Rites will be held at 1 p. m. today at True Vine Baptist church and burial will be in New Crown, Mr. Little, known throughout his neighborhood for his tales of experiences as a slave, was born into slavery on the estate of Dr. Robert Little, near Paducah, Ky. Although his father’s name was Parker, he was given the last name of his master.
He was raised with his master’s son, and later became a houseman and coachman for the family. When he was set free, he went to Tennessee to work in a lumber campand later moved here, Surviving members of the former slave's family are two daughters, {Mrs: Lucy Willoughby, Indianapolis, |and Miss Arnell Little, Paducah, {Ky.; two sons, Willis Little, Dyersburg, Tenn., and Nat Little, Detroit, Mich, and 123 grandchildren.
