PRESS SEARCH FOR ARSONISTS
Jittery Missouri Residents Post Own Guards.
HIGBEE, Mo., Nov. 16 (U, P.).— Jittery residents made their own plans for guarding their property
today while state police pressed a search for arsonists who have left a trail of burned buildings through half a dozen small Missouri communities. lL The state patrol sent a laboratory technician here to study the debris of three buildings burned yesterday. Authorities hoped that from his findings they could learn something about the criminals. State police said the arsonists may be operating from freight trains which run through most of the towns. gang has been escaping on the freights. Little Loot Taken
In each instance robberies were attempted while residents’ helped put out the fires. The loot was negligible. In each case, the town had no fire-fighting force. The fires began Sept. 28, when a
‘\barn and garage were destroyed at
Wakenda. From Wakenda the fires swept through Missouri hamlets in an area roughly 50 miles long and 30 miles wide. Among the towns struck were Brunswick, Dalton, Laclede, Glascow and Gilliam. The worst in the series of blazes broke out here yesterday when five buildings in the business district caught fire simultaneously. A threestory brick building bought recently by the town as the site of a proposed factory was destroyed. Two other buildings were damaged.

Time for Bus —and Police
The case of the Swallow Coach bus hdd the police department stumped today. It is comparatively rare for a 24passenger bus painted blue and white, even a Swallow Coach bus, to disappear from the Traction terminal. The bus was missed about 5a m. As the department organized itself for a bus-hunt, a citizen called up wanting to know what a big blue and white bus was doing parked near the intersection of Market and West sts. “It hasn't got any business there,” remarked the citizen as she hung up. Police wrote the episode off as another unsolved mystery. “Recovered,” sald the Yeport. “One bus stolen from terminal station.”

And they | didn't like it. : “They knew the Republicans were running the congress without sharing its responsibility. Now they have made them responsible and | will know where to place the blame | if there is another disgraceful stale- | E mate in government.”
