RECORD ‘ARMY’
Three-quarters of a million Hoosier nimrods are poiséd for invasion of Indiana flelds and woodlands Monday, the opening .day of the rabbit, quail and pheasant hunting seasons. Not all the hunters will be in the field on the opening day of the season but thousands, freed from their daily tasks by the observance of Armistice Day, will be banging away at cottontails, bob-whites and pheasants. Others will continue their efforts to bag a few early ducks and other waterfowl. The potential mumber of hunters this year is the largest in Indiana history, due ‘in large part to the thousands of free permits issued ex-servicemen. This “bonus” inaugurated by the general assembly after world war I was extended by the last legislature to include veterans of world war II. It is estimated by division of fish and game officials that approximately 300,000 of these permits are now outstanding. w » Ready for Futons Anticipating a record number of hunters during the season starting Monday, a series of meetings of sonservation officers have been held. In these sessions the laws governing hunting have been reviewed.

Prospects Ate * Good Plenty of rabbits throughout the state, pheasants in the north part
and quail in the southern part, sum- | marizes the hunting prospects as reported by the conservation officers. “ There are some areas south of the national rd. (U. 8. 40) where pheasant hunting will be good and some sections north of 40 where there are numerous quail. Generally, however, the best pheasant hunting is north of 40 and the best quail hunting south of this highway. » = ~

Grabow, supervisor, Additional acreage offered for inclusion in the national forest unit, is now being appraised and he urges that his office at Bedford be contacted by landowners desiring to sell their holdings for this purpose.
