Caps, Ramblers Show Well
@0n Defensive
Forwards on the Indianapolis and New Haven hockey teams will be on the spot tonight when they face off on the Coliseum ice at 8:30. Both clubs have star goalies in Red Almas of the Caps and Jim Henry of the Ramblers, and they are supported by formidable defensemen. Almas has allowed only six goals in four games and Henry only nine in five, : That puts it up to the boys who are-paid to bang the puck into the cage. For this reason, Coliseum
SHORT-TERM LEASE Gerry Couture, Capital star who scored five goals against Philadelphia here last Sunday, is only down from the parent Detroit Red Wings for two weeks, according to Cap Coach Tommy Ivan, But, of course, the Red Wing management can extend that “lease” at its pleasure. Coliseum fans hope the Wings do that very thing.
hockey addicts probably will sit in
on a torrid skating session and pass plays galore. According to the early season form of both clubs, tonight's contest stacks up as a low-score attraction with victory going to the
d the best “wind.” In Good Shape . Coach Tommy Ivan of the Caps said his pastimers are in good physical condition and all set to stand up under three periods of high pressure skating. New Haven’s puck chasers are reported to be just as rugged. The Ramblers came from behind in St. Louis Tuesday to beat the Flyers and this is always an indication of “hot” form. The Capitals have scored 18 goals in four tilts, the Ramblers 20 in five, Everything just about “evens up” between them ‘on early-season statisties and it's a safe guess that both will be out to get the jump tonight. Another coincidence is the fact that Indianapolis is second in the American Hockey league's western division and New Haven holds down the runnerup spot in the eastern “wheel.”
Bears Win Again By UNITED PRESS The undefeated Hershey Bears threatened today to make the American Hockey league's Eastern division race a one-team affair fol-

in a game last night with the Phila\delphia Rockets. \ Rookie Pete Babando paced the 8-to-1 victory on Hershey ice as he whistled three goals past Philadel‘Goalie Nick Damore. Hershey cored ‘twice in the opening session, three times in the second frame and three\in the third period. Vet eran Phil } ergesheimer, one-time member of) the Chicago Black Hawks, averted a Philadelphia shut-out with a solo dash in the second period. At Springfield, the Springfield Indians scored four goals in the final period to defeat Cleveland, 6 to 4. Despite their first setback of the season, the Barons continued to hold- first place in the: Western division by two points over the Indianapolis Caps. Keith Allen tied "the count for thé Indians. five] minutes before the end of the game, and successive markers by Happy! Frost and Chuck Kobussen clinched | the contest. 4 The Buffalo Bisons battled to a | 4-to-4 tie with the Providence Reds | at Buffalo, with Freddie Hunt, former New York Ranger winger, accounting for two of the Bisons goals.
Open League Tilt Seven Up All-Stars will play Warren’s Ideal Market at 8 tonight in an Open league football game at Municipal stadium. In games last night, South Side Saints scored their third straight victory by defeating N. E. Rockets, 25-12, and South Side Dutchmen edged South Side Bears, 5-0.
