Duck Season Nearing

Duck hunters have another six days to wait before they open their season, one-half hour before sunrise on the morning of Oct. 26. The season is now open in Indiana on woodcock and on rails and gallinules (except coot) with the woodcock season ending Oct. 30 and the season on rails and callinules ending Nov. 30. There is no open season in Indiana this year on Canada geese, including Hutchins and cackling geese and white-fronted geese. Daily bag limits on duck (except American and redbreasted mergansers) are 7 in the aggregate of all kinds but including not more than one wood ruck. A bag limit of 25 is in effect on coot. No change has been made in the regulations regarding the taking of waterfowl by means of bait or live decoys.

State Parks-Laboratories

Under this plan, regular supervised class groups visiting state parks as a part of their regular {curriculum for the study of con-

Hunting Fatalities The toll of 16 hunting fatalities during the past 12 months will be increased in coming weeks as Hoosler nimrods unlimber their shotguns and rifles against ducks, rabbits, quail and pheasants. Each hunting season brings a series of accidental deaths and shootings, due in large part to carelessness in the handling of firearms. The 16 fatal accident this year would not. be unusual in a state where there is an open season on deer, H,, P. Cottingham, PittmanRobertson project director, reported today. The deaths tabulated by Mr.
