Teen Talk—

Teen-Agers’ Club Practices Parliamentary Rules

By BOBBIE SCHAEFFER ONE RAP of the gavel, the meeting comes to order and 11 teen-agers are set for a business session—perfect to the law and letter. Probably the

only teen-age

group that could conduct a busi- . ness

meeting by the strictest parliamentary law is the Plainfield Junior Parliamentary Practice club. About two years ago a group of adults in Plainfield started a class in parliamentary law with Mrs. W. H. Vinzant instructing them. They felt it was such a worth-while project that they wanted their sons and daughters to know about it, The high school *students who were interested in the new type of class started last February, meeting each Monday after school. Mrs. Vinzant went to Plainfield to teach them. No credit was given for the class but tt—proved so interesting that even several Plainfield teachers came each week for the lessons. After 12 lessons the classes were finished—so the group decided to form a club, a practice club to continue learning and utilizing the parliamentary procedure. They elected officers and. during the summer continued meeting weekly in the library.

” u ” LAST YEAR in school the effects of this unique club were felt—for members wanted the
