At least five and possibly seven of the 45 persons aboard the four engined Douglas Skymaster survived when it plunged to earth Wednesday in a heavily-wooded area 22 mlies southeast of here. | The survivors will be town here by plane today. Pilots flying over the sea yesterday spotted five persons, two men, two women and a child, three of whom waved vigorously. Another pilot reported he saw three persons near the wrecked plane and four others walking about four rhiles from the scene. There also was a possibility that some.of the survivors might have made their way to lumber camps. known to be in that area. First contact was made with the survivors late yesterday when a rescue party from Ft. McAndrew, composed of a U. 8. army officer. a coast guard search and rescue officer and a Newfoundland guide, reached them. They were able to report only meager details to the plane that landed them on a lake five miles distant before the batteries in their walkie-talkie radio gave out.
