If you're a lover of mighty fine music, dust off that ear trumpet for some concentrated listening tonight over CBS. Some of ‘the top tune smithies in the business are in the Wednesday line-up, and another cracks the kilowatts with a new program for the first time. Dinah Shore is the latest tonsil artist to go it alone, and you'll find her listed in the 8:30 column, There is none finah than Dinah and youll find her at the very top of the feminine vocal heap. So gear yourself for some fancy vocalizing that is southern fried. In addition, her guest on the gpener is her husband, George Montgomery. George is a fall, tough hombre of the movies. Peter Lind Hayes will be along each week to provide a steady diet of comedy on the show. Hayes is a mimic who sorta strip teases famous personalities. The whole shebang is bought and paid for by Ford Motor Company, who keeps saying there's a Ford in your future. - . ” ow » » nn More music and a different style of patter will be presented by ark Warnow at 6:30 this evening. Mark will “Sound Off” with Kay Armen as guest vocalist. Kay is .a CBS song stylist whese singing is of considerable note—and music.. Warnow and his erchestra will also go it alone on a few numbers, in which the boys in the band play the spots in front of their eyes. A capsule size bit of dramatics will feature the exploits of the Army Corps of Engineers during the war. The show is jointly sponsored by CBS and U. 8. Army Recruiting. n Mu »w ” » » Still on the musical treadmill, tonight is the night for “Holiday For Music.” At 9:30, Dave Rose will unstrap his musical satchel that is stacked to the hilt with original compositions and popular melodies. The Rose Original tonight will be one of his numberg that has already stood alone and liked it. It's called “Our Waltz,” and was first written as mood music for a Hollywood film, but clicked as a love ballad as well. You'll also find the special Rose thumbprint on “Otche Tshornia” and “Tea For Two.” In the vocal department, Kitfy Kallen and Curt Massey will duet on “People Will Say We're In Love,” and the get independent on separate numbers. 3 » ~ » » » n Lovey dovey lyrics are on the griddle for tonight at 8 when Frank Sinatra wraps his mitties around the business end of the microphone. This is the second program for Frankie in his new series, so bobby soxers are still crawling out of juke boxes and coke machines as the word is spread that he is back. “The Voice” not only croons drooly melodies, but he emcees the program for Old Gold as well. One person he'll give the big build-up to is Judy Stevens,” the female thrush for the show. Judy is a valuable member of the program. I'm referring to the musical handle of the 7 o'clock show called “The Whistler.” Now the warbler ain't as musical as he might sound. He's really a brainy guy who can't be bothered with music until a murder comes along. Then, he'll let out a tweet now and then... He whistles when he is thinking. Sorta like a factory whistle that's blowing its top. He deduces a crime in a psychological manner, and even lets you know what the criminal Is thinking.
