: Collection of Fall Hats by Knox ; Is Modeled by Three Cover Girls

By LOUISE FLETCHER . Times Woman's Editor

A COVER GIRL'S job nowadays is more - than adding glamour to the “front dobr” of a magazine, It seéms that the models, whose faces “cover” the magazines, are just as like-

ly to cover the country, too. Take the three Conover girls who were at ‘Ayres’ today modeling the new Knox fall hats. They're on a five-day whirlwind tour of midwestern cities to show the Knox headgear. And it's a schedule so jampacked that they're having to manage it hy making their inter-city hops in a specially chartered plane. They flew in well after the dinner hour last night in their twin-engine Cessna piloted by Kenneth Fleming of Stamford, Conn. They'll take off late this afternoon for Ohio. And Friday night: will find them back in New York.

» . » Stylist With Group WITH THEM here today was “Miss Knox,” the stylist for the hat company whose name she borrows. (Privately, she's Frances Lord.) Miss Knox served as commentator as the three Conover girls— Bettye Bosworth, Dian- Owens and Eleanor Niles—wore 30 hats representing styles for the coming season, « “Fall millinery trends emphasize large felts and velours with high

crowns and wide brims,” Miss Knox said. “The cloche and small hat, however, also will retain

popularity and favor with many smart women. “But, small or large, every one of the hats FITS the head, coming down far enough in back to provide comfortable anchorage. “The new hats,” she added, “will be gengrously trimmed with a variety of plumes, quills, cockades and large ornamentation.
