Predicts “Democrats Will Keep-Senate Control.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 17 (U. P.). —Senator Scott W. Lucas (D. IIL), chafrman of the Democratic senatorial campaign committee, sald today it is a 40 to 1 bet that Democrits will retain control of the sen‘ate in the November elections, Senator Lucas, just returned from political pulse-feeling in the middle west, derided Republican estimates of winning from 10 to 13 seats now
He contended the Republicans themselves stand a good chance of losing some of the 39 senate seats they now hold. This, he said, is something they are forgetting to mention in their victory predictions. Senator Lucas made his statement as the house campaign investigating committee met to approve the final draft of a questionnaire that will require about 40 organizations to disclose their political activities and expenditures, Among the groups that will reseive the forms are the Communist | party, the National Association of | Manufacturers, the C. I. O. Political | Action Committee and Harold L. | Ickes’ Independent Citizens’ committee of the Arts, Sciences and! | Professions. | In looking ahead to the Novem- | | ber elections, Republicans claim ex- | cellent chances of getting five seats | { now held by Democrats, better than 1 50-50 on eight others and at Jeast
