How, we wanted to know, did Her mother feel about these premature preparations for a wedding? “You know, that's the silliest thing,” Miss Haver said. “All the columnists around town have her objecting to the idea. But she loves it—she’s the one who's fing my

a time when the radio disc jockey was rather looked down upon in
the industry. Insiders, however, have gotten over that habit in recent years as a result of impressive figures on certain income tax reports. Thé chatter-and-platter boys are in the big money in many cases. Their future looks brighter than ever. An idea of the financial attractions of this business can be gained from the fact that Ted Hu- * sing—a top sports announcer for many years who probably wouldn't have admitted knowing a disc jockey several years ago—has joined . the ranks. : Mr. Husing has signed a five-year -- contract with WHN—a local station only, mind you—which calls for a minimum of $260,000 in salary for the five years. Martin Block, one of the pioneer Jockeys and the biggest moneymaker for several years, has be- | come so big that the East coast can't hold him any longer. ~~ Long identified with WNEW here, he's moving his headquarters to the
