ris for Germany today and Porelgn Secretary Ernest Bevin planned a week-end trip to London. Deputies Study Amendments

The Big Four deputies met again last night to continue their tedious discussion on 200 amendments to _ the treaty drafts submitted by the 17 smaller powers. There was no indication that they would reach agreement before the next Big Four meeting, probably next week, Senator Arthur’ H. Vandenberg (R. Mich.) was revealed as the strongest force behind the adamant American opposition to postponement of the United Nations assémbly expressed in yesterday's Big Four meeting. Upon his arrival two weeks ago, Senator Vandenberg believed he detected a teni flency for Secretary Byrnes to © weaken on the issue. "The senator exerted all his influence on Mr, Byrnes, arguing that a postponement would hurt the United — Nations" Nr Byrnes stood firmly for the Sept. 28 meeting in yesterday's session. Only the Russians objected. Discussion among the Big Four dicated the peace conference may not. be finished even by early November.

UN Told ‘Other Countries’ Are Real Threat.

By ROBERT J. MANNING United Press Stat Correspondent LAKE SUCCESS, N. Y., Sept. 5.—~ Vassili Dendramis, spokesman for Greece, today told the United Nations. security council that it was not. Greece but “other countries” which threatened world peace.

Replying to charges of the Ukraine that Greece and Britain, through her troops in Greece, are threatening peace and security, Mr. Dendramis claimed the charges re sembled those which Italy made on the eve of her attack in 1940. Greece, he said, was a champion of peace and democracy in the Balkans. “Greece by tradition,” he said, “is imbued with moderation.” Hits ‘Anarchists’

Mr. Dendramis characterized opponents of the Greek regime as “anarchists” who had not yet “washed the blood from their hands” from the civil war of last December,

came with ill grace after the praise Moscow gave Greece for its resistance during the war years. He charged Russia had favored Greece's neighbors and had undertaken a “war of nerves.” He said Greece's demand for northern Epirus and Rectification of her frontier with Bulgaria were not threats to peace but merely “elementary justice.” He said Greece couldn't threaten her neighbors because her army was just getting organized. In contrast, he said, Bulgaria had an army of 150,000, Yugloslavia 300,000
