Putting Up Monument in Honor of Saviour.
WASHINGTON, Aug. 20 (U. PJ. ~The people of the French town of Mayenne in lower. Normandy have not forgotten the G. I. from North Carolina who gave his life. to save their homes from Nazi destruction. . Through their mayor, they informed President Truman of the monument they are erecting to the memory of Pvt, James D. Mac~ racken and of the services they held Aug. 15, 1945, in his honor, “I do not need to tell you,” Mr. Truman wrote in reply, “that this generous gesture on the part of the French people represents an addi-
