‘Big Boy’ Sired ¢ Hundréds of
Heavy Bombers.
DAYTON, O. Aug. 17 (U. P).— B-19, “the big boy” who sired hun« dreds of heavy bombers that helped pulverize our enemies during the
war yedrs, was turned out to graze |
today. With Col. J. E. Boyd, chief test pilot, at the controls, the great ship with its towering tail section
cutting the morning mists took off 2 o
from the Wright Field runways for the last time, headed for enshrinement in the army air forces museum at Tucson, Ariz. Too big and tdo expensive ever to see action against the enemy, it nevertheless contributed to the allied victory as did no other warplane, Its great frame was used for thousands of experiments for the testing and trying of thousands of devices, developments and inventions which helped to make succeeding heavy bombers. faster, more efficient and better armed.
