YOU COULDN'T ask for ‘a more delectable combination of foods than ham and fresh asparagus. When you wrap the green stalks of asparagus right in the. slices of cooked ham and serve them with a cheese sauce, then you have a dish that's. bound to bring an appreciative gleam in the eyes of the family, - Slices of “boiled” ham, bought ready-cooked, or left-over cooked ham may be used. The sfmplest way to prepare follows: ~ » » COOK the asparagus in a small amount of water, just until tender. Wrap a slice of ham around each three to five stalks of asparagus (depending upon their size), fasten with a toothpick. Place in an open pan; brush asparagus tips with butter or margarine and heat in-a moderate oven (350 degrees F.) for 10 or 15 minutes. Serve on a hot platter with a creamy, well-seasoned cheese sauce. Garnish as desired.

FOR A VARIATION of this dish, fill ‘the ham rolls with’ cooked green beans, thin carrot strips or a combination of the two, If you'd like to try something really “different, put a half of firm, ripe banana in thé center of the ham slice. Give these last a little more time in the oven, to cook the bananas; about 20 to 30 minutes. Another suggestion is to make the slices of ham into cornucopias. These may be filled with any one of a number of foods. Try a filling of baked beans and serve chili sauce or ketchup alongside. Potatoes in various forms may also be used. ° ” ~ ” A DINNER MENU might include: Ham and asparagus rolls with cheese sauce Boiled new potatoes with parsley Tray of raw vegetable relishes Strawberry shortcake ‘with whipped cream Coffee
