before a liberally-filled and none too complimentary house, This was the same Clarence Brown that State champ Willard Reed stopped on the pre-race eve| i A show &t the Gbliseum. Both judges voted in his favor while Referee Roy Rogers cast his ballot for Johnny, Denson got.in a good, solid left swat in the sixth of their 10 rounds and big Ciarence sat out a nine count, But the hefty Detroiter had the best of it most of the time and used his weight to a good advanage. Brown weighed "203 to Denson’s

188%. P Cut Over Eye Denson was cut over the left eye in the same round, but the bloodletting wasn’t serious on the part of either of the boys. Johnny didn’t go in with the free-swinging, sharp attack which has marked his most recent appearances, and Brown gained confidence as the fight moved along. Consequently, he proceeded to out-punch and out-

maneuver his lighter opponent. ‘Tourney at Elks

WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 (U, P).— Bruce Campbell, a one-time major league star outflelder who charged he was dropped by the Washington Senapors in violation of his G. IL reemployment rights, pocketed a full settlement of $6000 today and went to Minneapolis to finish the season in the American association. Clark Griffith, owner of the Senators, paid Campbell the money the outfielder clajmed still was due him on a $0000 contract for 1946. The Senators released him after a few weeks of the season, and Campbell said that was a violation of his right to a year's employment at his prewar job, U, 8. Attorney Edward Curran said the government would take no official action until after Griffith had reviewed the case, and was with Griffith yesterday when the owner agreed to pay Campbell The $6000 will bring to $0000 Campbell's income for playing baseball this season with Washington, Buffalo and Minneapolis. He was sent from the Senators to Buffalo, but was released after a few weeks.
