was a 39-year-old waitress, who was called as a witness. She testified in a hollow voice that she was led into addiction by the group after an unhappy love affair. Prescriptions Are Asked She was so weak after battling the tortures of enforced abstinence that she was unable to stand unaided. The federal officer who requested dope prescriptions, according to the testimony, was identified as Peter~ son, by Dr. Floyd A. Boyer of 442 N. Drexel ave. . He testified that one of the addicts, Kehler, was sent to him by the agent, Mr. Peterson. “Peterson said it was all right for me to prescribe narcotics to Kehler,” Dr. Boyer testified “It put me behind the eight ball, with the federal narcotics -agent here telling me it was okay.” Dr. ©. E. Hanes of 3408 Clifton st. said that the Indianapolis federal agent had contacted him about another defendant, Wooden. , Dr. Hanes said he had p scribed 100 grains weekly to Wooden. “But,” he added, “the narcotics agent here took him off me and sent him to someone ele at the last,” the elderly, white-haired physician said, laughing. Addict Steals Dope Judge Howard rapped his gavel sharply. “Don’t you think it's serious when men are making physical wrecks of themselves?” he snapped at the physician, It was learned by The Times
