Putters that wouldn't behave kept the Varin-Morris match a dingdong duel most of the way. The two girls may not have played as brilliant golf as their colleagues, but they seemed to enjoy it more— which is supposed to be one of the reasons for the game.
Last Minute Rush Is Expected for Softball Tourney
A last-minute rush of entrants in the annual metropolitan tournament of the Marion County Softball association is expected. Deadline for entering is Saturday night. * With an expected turnout of approximately 50 teams, the schedule will be drawn up Aug. 8 and play will open Aug. 12 at the Municipal and Beech Grove stadiums. Latest ‘entries received are those of the Mitchel-Scott, U., S. Tire, Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music, Indiana Bell Telephone, Frederick Coal Co., Chrysler Airtemp and National Starch. Entry blanks are available at the Bush-Callahan and Em-Roe sporting goods stores and at the Municipal and Beech Grove stadiums.
