proposed city budget for next year,
City Cletk<Treasurer Vanha Thrasher said’ today that as the estimates now stand a tax rate of $2.13 will be required. The city now is operating on a rate of $1.27. Reductions resulting from the city budget hearing included elimination of $2000 earmarked for renovating the council chambers and a cut from $20,000 to $15,000 of an appropriation to provide additional light ing and building at the municipal airport. ' A reduction of $5260 was made by reducing the number of additional city firemen to be hired from four to two, and by reducing the appropriation for supplies.

Police, called to the scene last night, found Jacqueling” Barregarye sitting ina wheel chair, a gun in her hand. Sprawled on the floor beside her was Lawrence Zarregarye, 40, dead of four bullet wounds in the chest. Jacqueline, who greeted police with the calm announcement that “I've just shot my stepfather,” said she fired at him when he attempted to attack her with a pair of scissors.
