‘SORE THROAT CASES | AIDED BY PENICILLIN

By Science Service

CHICAGO, July 25.—Patients | with acute sore throats get well fast | when given intensive penicillin

| treatment, it appears from experience reported by Capt. Selvan Davison of the army medical corps in the forthcoming issue of the Journal of the American Medical asso-

ciation here, tnstead of six days of penicillin | being necessary, as reported by another scientist, an Davison found his patients could swallow without pain, had no fever and no discharge after two days. Bigger doses of | penicillin given every three hours instead of every four seemed to make the difference. Among 28 cases there was one relapse which recovered without. further penicillin and one which did not respond until sulfadiazine was givens No complications, such as ear trouble or pneumonia, occurred either during or after treatfhent.
