Revival of Tomato Tournament Is Set

LIQUOR BOARD IS STYMIED BY BUDGET
The Marion county liquor board is still stymied by budget technicalities in its effort to get enough money to maintain a full-time secretary at its headquarters in the court house annex at 148 E. Market vr st. County commissioners announced that they can't approve vouchers to pay a secretary because “there isn't any appropriation in the county budget for that purpose.” The liquor board appointed Miss Lillian I. Ball ds secretary two months ago and her sglary, $175 a month, has been pald temporarily by» the state alcoholic beverage commission. The state commission informed the county board several weeks o “that it could not pay the salary after Aug. 1. Robert 8. Sister Kenny to Fight Polio Cases
MINNEAPOLIS, July 28 (U. PD), —8ister Elizabeth Kenny was en - route here today to help combat a poliemyelitis outbreak which has taken 16 lives in 22 days. There have been 120 polio cases in the Twin Cities since July 1. Health authorities appealed for more nurses and other workers for understaffed hospitals.
